Syntax vs Semantics

Here is a bit of semantics from the same CS 101 course that I referenced yesterday.

Syntax vs Semantics

  • Syntax is the parsing of a sentence for validity
  • Semantics has to do with meaning
  • Static semantics check for which syntactically correct strings have meaning
  • Full semantics has to do with precise, unambiguous meaning in a statement
